Car Leave the CD in the dust
The saga of audio playback media reads like Roman history. The record was toppled by the eight-track tape, which was overthrown by the cassette, only to be later slain by the compact disc (CD). And, despite fending off attempted coups by the likes of the MiniDisc, it appears as though the CD’s reign may finally be coming to an end – usurped by new digital music technologies. While plummeting CD sales and increased iTunes downloads have provided an indication of the transference of power, a new trend in car stereos is making it official.
More than any other place, the car is where people listen to music. Cruising around with the latest summer jams blaring is a tradition that spans nearly the entire life of the automobile. This is why getting phased out of car stereos is the kiss of death for any audio media (just look at cassettes and eight-track tapes). Now, that kiss of death is being planted on the CD. In the past year, major car-stereo producers – Covers the Clarion and Alpine – entered cover with ports for connection to digital media players instead of the traditional CD players. Although stereo is above the means seem to port and CD players, models, new CD component abolished altogether.
People want the convenience of a single source for all musical needs, and therefore almost any device, from running shoes, alarm clocks are "iPod compatible. Several car manufacturersanswered the question by dropping the CD player, portable media improved data transmission and good quality services. Clarion rolled a $ 199 stereo headset in 2007, music from MP3 players or SD cards instead of CD players. The company used the stereo as a CD-free market interest in measurements and said it was hit expectations. Meanwhile Alps four new CD release available to recipients at the beginning of year (prices between $ 200 and $ 450) is designed specifically for use withiPod.
But notwithstanding these models (and some other leaders, such as Blaupunkt stereo), the vast majority of games on the market is still compact disc. And most writers think it is too early to CD player completely. Only one thing, many people – particularly older drivers – are more likely to get most of their music CD to get. A second important factor is that the CD sound quality is superior to the quality of compressed audio files – even if the only music lovercan not really see the difference (and most of them say that a good quality of a CD is a drop is not vinyl). Of course the great advantage of this offer is that new players eliminate all those bulky CD cases and books everywhere, leaving the interior of the vehicle. This is the place that will not save, even if a manager has a car for more than twenty miles strips of rubble.
But for now, maintains its place as the top album audio hierarchy of media. But it's borrowed time, waiting for the inevitabletimes already in the works. And if history is any indication, free car radio-CD suggest the end is near.
